This beautiful rectangular golden mirror is made in France, circa 1870.
The frame is decorated with highly detailed baroque ornaments such as C scrolls, acanthus, flowers, and leaves. The Frame has a pine base smoothened with gesso and is partially gold leaf gilt and gold painted. Use of both types of gilding is often used as it enhances definition as the finishes slightly differ in both color and gloss. This elegant mirror has its original glass and pine back cladding and is in exceptionally good condition.
