Extraordinary and exquisite set of original Louis XV salon gold gilded chairs with curved wood edges, intricately carved surfaces and Grey Green Patina. One Armchair and one Ladies Lounge chair are executed in the rococo style. They were part of several new types of furniture, designed for small intimate salons created by Louis XV and by his mistresses, Madame de Pompadour and Madam DuBarry. This art of Settees is known for its gilded frames in beechwood carved with flowers and leaf motif and were most likely places against the paneling (meublant), considered as part of the wall decoration, size of which allowed to easily move or rearranged them from room to room, depending upon the kind of function. With their fine and elegant decoration, this pair of chairs is emblematic and could possibly be a creation of one of the masters of the Parisian furnutre makers such as Cresson. Until resently these wonderful masterpieces resided in a royal Chateau in the region of Avignon, France.
