Vintage Design
Pair of 1960s Italian Chiavari twin single beds in dark carved wood with great shiny vintage patina and perfect long lasting solid structure. Chiavari style, mainly known for the chairs, is named after the Italian city where they originated, a small town located on the Mediterranean shore side between Portofino and the Cinque Terre. Designed in 1807 by Giuseppe Gaetano Descalzi, these lightweight and elegant pieces with shapely crest rails and spindled backs were wonderfully handcrafted in Italy since the early 19th century. The iconic and elegant design has been a design staple for a century and has today become synonymous with elegance, design and tradition, perfect and decorative in any home. When put side by side, the two headboards of the beds, without the footboards, fit precisely and beautifully a standard US queen mattress (60”). If used as single beds, or with footboards, they are a typical European size.
