Vintage Design
This is a charming Edwardian child’s correction chair, made from bentwood with its hand turned uprights and a hand carved scallop design seat, this chair is in lovely condition, solid and sturdy with good patina. (Previous woodworm has been treated). C1902
Correction or Deportment chairs are also known Astley Cooper Chairs named after their inventor Sir Astley Paston Cooper (1768-1841). Cooper, a surgeon and anatomist designed these chairs in order to correct faulty posture in children: the design of the chair forces children to sit on it correctly. Seat H: 56cm.
