Amsterdam
Circa 1625 – 1650
A blue and white Dutch tile with a decoration of a Dutch soldier from the period of the 80 Years War.
The decoration of this tile is very detailed and we can beautifully see the young soldier from the front carrying his musket and stand. Around his waist, we can see a sword. The scene is painted with French lilies (fleur de lis) as corner decoration. Beautiful clear shining white glaze.
An extra beautiful detail is the purple / manganese outlines of the drawing.
The tile is in very good condition, with a small plaster filled chips to the left, further with the normal superficial wear and small chips according to age.
