This is an antique occasional table. A Victorian, Chinese elm octagonal coffee or lamp table in strong Moorish taste and dating to the mid 19th century, circa 1850.
Burnt red hues to the lacquered Chinese elm table top and legs
Aged running repairs as typical of a piece from this period
Two piece, folding design well suited to occasional use
Octagonal table top with bevelled edge and decorated with panels of temples, warriors and elephants
Similar decoration is found on each panel of the folding stand
Standing upon legs carved into the shape of minarets
This is a fascinating occasional table, eye-catching in its decorative Moorish taste. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
