Antique Late 19th Century American Extensivly Blue Spongeware Decorated Stoneware Milk Pitcher

This Really is a Great Looking Antique American Blue Sponge Ware Decorated Stoneware Milk Pitcher. Circa Very Late 19th Century. It has Extensive Beautiful Blue Color Hand Decorated Spongeware Features that are Done in The Classic American Style. It was most likely made in the Eastern Central Ohio Region. Thick & Heavy Construction – Made and Intended for Everyday Use. It is in Very Good Cosmetic – Strong – Sound – Perfectly Usable Condition – Displays Beautifully. It has a Small Chip at the Pouring Spout. It Also has a Few Imperfections that are Kiln Firing Related and Would Have Occurred in The Making Process that Include a Interior Surface Inclusion at the Top Rim ( Not a Crack ) and Some Surface Inclusions on The Interior Bottom All of Which are Under the Glaze Confirming that they Occurred in The Kiln When Fired. These Can Best be seen in the Last 4 Photographs in My Listing. These and Other Types of Surface Flaws are a Quite Common Occurrence in The Kiln Firing Process with American Stoneware Items From This Era. Note that They Were Produced in Batches with Multiple Other Pieces at at The Same Time in Large Size Kilns. Back in the Day These Types of Stoneware Items were a Necessity in Most of Americas Farms and Household’s and They were Made For Everyday – Utilitarian Use.
It Measures Overall Approx. 9 inches Tall x 7 3/4 Long x 5 5/8 inches Wide at Base.
