This Really is a Absolutely Beautiful Antique French Majolica Oyster Plate – Serving Dish. It Comes from the Classic Victorian Aesthetic Movement Period. It is Signed by the Much Sought After & Well Documented Company Sarreguemines France. My Research Confirms that the Black Ink Stamp SARREGUEMINES FRANCE Mark was Only Used from 1875 to 1900. This Plate would have been Used to Serve Oysters on the Half Shell in the 6 Outer Wells with a Center Well for Horseradish – Sauces Etc. It has Nicely Molded – Sculpted Detailed Features that Includes Opened Clam Seashells. It is Beautifully Hand Decorated in a Monochrome Green High Gloss Glaze. It is in Excellent Cosmetic and Perfectly Usable Condition. No Damage – No Repairs – Displays Beautifully. NOTE That on the Back Side There are 3 Small Glaze Spots – Imperfections but These are Normal – Quite Common with Fine Ceramics of this era and Would have Occurred in the Making – Kiln Firing Process as a Result of Being Suspended on the Kiln Shelf with 3 Small Posts – Risers.
