19th Century Doulton Lambeth Emin Pasha Pitcher Jug, H M Stanley Relief Expedition 1887-1889

RARE 19th Century Doulton Lambeth Emin Pasha commemorative jug or pitcher, salt glazed stoneware in two tone beige & dark brown finish. Featuring Henry Morgan Stanley on the front who let the Relief Expedition 1887-1889. This measures 8″ tall by 5 1/2″ wide, 7″ wide from handle to front. Marked underneath with an impressed Doulton Lambeth c.1880-1902, with artists initials and numbered 1986. No chips or cracks, expected wear or scuff marks on base rim, excellent condition.

All 3 sides have ornate raised decorative symbols, names & words. Front reads “OUT OF DARKNESS INTO LIGHT”. One side reads: ENTERPRISE, E. M. BARTTELOT, W. BONNY, A. .J. MOUNTENEY-JEPHSON and on the other side: VALOUR, W. G. STAIRS, R. H. NELSON, T. H. PARKE.
