1970s Grape-Sized Italian Coral & Gold Drop Earrings

Fabulously glamorous, riviera-style earrings!

These Italian-made 1970’s dangle earrings boast two coral drops the size of a grape each! This is Mediterranean (Sardinian most likely) coral, which is protected today. The coral drops have been faceted and discreetly reflect light as they move.

These were handmade by an artisan near Naples and the Amalfi coast.

The fittings and thin curb chain are all 18k gold, except for two small jump rings on each earring, which link the chain to the fittings, and appear to have been gold-filled. They have now lost their gold luster. They are not noticeable, except from very close, and can be swapped if you like, at an additional charge.

The coral itself contains a few natural defects: a shallow crack on one earring, and a dark blemish on the other (see photos). Neither is visible unless you’re inspecting quite closely.

The drops are 17.6 mm long by 13.3 mm at their widest.

The earrings weigh 12.9 grams, and measure 1.75″ from the post to the bottom of the drop, roughly.
