This is a terracotta olive jar from central Spain. It has a wonderful aged patina with chalky painted finish. It makes a great statement as a sculpture in a room on a pedestal, alone or with a plant. Stamped on the pot and two handmande handles.
Really beautiful with their irregularities and old patina, it´s impressive.
Similar to the beautiful French olive jar from the Biot region of France.
These pots are glazed on the neck and rim (to prevent insects from climbing into the oil inside) they are not suitable for overwintering outside in cold climates except if emptied and covered or brought inside. You will need to drill a drainage hole or have a custom liner made if you choose to use it as a planter.
