Hand-carved during the latter years of the 18th century, this charming sculpture depicts a young lad just finishing his morning swim. The sculptor exhibits here his mastery of human anatomy, at the same time capturing the innocence of the boy, who appears to be showing off a find to a companion nearby. Sculpted from select French walnut, that achieved beautiful patina after many centuries.
