Authentic Jean Prouvé monitor’s / observer’s-desk made of a green tubular steel frame (the typical metallic green that Prouvé often uses) that supports a massive oak top. On the right side of the desk there’s a rounded oak shelf mounted to the inside of the desk. Jean Prouvé designed this desk in the 1950’s for the Lycée Jean Prouvé in Nancy, the northern-French Lorraine region’s capital. The desk is a completely authentic condition, without any structural damages at all. All the original screws and mounts are there, nothing has been replaced or restored. The thick solid oak top has marks of use, if desired it can easily be sanded and lacquered to make it look as new again; but that would not add to the beautiful authentic look and feel of it.

Beautifully shaped rosewood corner desk by Peter Lovig. The desk has three drawers of which the top drawer is fitted with a lock, a wide bookshelf in the back and a mirrored drop-down storage or dry bar that is also secured with a lock. The stability bar between the legs and the top is nicely finished with copper caps. The desk is signed in ink underneath LOVIG DANSK Designs; it is in excellent condition. It can be purchased altogether with the highly comfortable Kristian Vedel desk chair shown in the pictures, which matches the desk perfectly in design and material use. It is made of the same rosewood as the desk which combines beautifully with the soft black leather of the chair.

Luxurious study desk made in the style of Art Deco. Beautifully veneered with rose and rosewood. The beauty of the furniture is based mainly on the geometric shape and exclusive materials used to make it. The amount of veneer used to produce such a piece of furniture testified to its costliness and the fact that it was an outstanding and exclusive design.

The table was purchased from a Catholic youth club in Breda, Netherlands – Prior to that it originally came from a church (de Paulus church) in a town called Dongen. It is rare in that it is an old piece of van der Laan/ Jan de Jong’s output and having two handles makes it very rare (one of the only other tables we know of with double handled ends is in Jan de Jong’s house in Schaik (now a national protected estate that opens up once a year to the public).

It is showing signs of use and abuse having been regularly used in the context of a youth club. The top really only has one visible old scratch whereas the sides have a series of scratches. These do not detract.

Three-drawer 1910s neoclassic table or writing desk in carved walnut, polished to wax

This is a Victorian antique Davenport dating to the mid 19th century circa 1850. Riding on the original brass castors beneath the plinth base, this davenport benefits from the unusual feature of a swivel top allowing the writing slope to turn through ninety degrees offering knee room whilst sat at the desk. A shallow gallery backs the uppermost surface and a flying hinged pen drawer is to found to the right-hand side. A further four drawers with turned pulls and brass keyhole linings offer plentiful storage. Lifting the lid reveals further storage with a single stationery drawer to the rear of the compartment is dressed with turned pulls. The rich dark tones of the rosewood are set off by the light gold tooled skiver writing surface.

despite its very impressive dimensions, the table manages not to block the room as a “giant.” on the contrary, an impression of weightlessness is made possible by the welding of thin but highly robust square tubes (3cm x 3cm) made of krupp steel.

the steel can be delivered untreated or alternatively it can come powder coated white or powder coated black.

please note: the untreated version is really untreated. Scratches and all signs of welding (including the “rainbow effect” with iridescent colours) are clearly visible. In addition, the steel develops a patina over time that also includes rust. All this is intended and part of the design. If the mentioned effects are undesirable, we recommend choosing the powder-coated version in black or white, as these are protected and do not develop a patina.
